VERTICAL DRILLING CENTER WDC

The NILES-SIMMONS WDC is a com­pact dril­ling cen­ter spe­ci­fi­cally desi­gned for per­forming all dril­ling, thre­a­ding, and coun­ter­sin­king ope­ra­ti­ons on high-speed rail­way wheels. The wheel dril­ling cen­ter is based on a cross-bed construction.

The machine fea­tures a swi­veling head, allo­wing ope­ra­ti­ons with head tilts from +16° to ‑120°. Thanks to the direct rotary and swi­vel axes, the WDC offers ideal con­di­ti­ons for achie­ving the hig­hest pre­cis­ion on the work­piece. For 3‑axis machi­ning or posi­tio­ning ope­ra­tion, the rotary and swi­vel axes can be hydrau­li­cally clam­ped at any posi­tion. Using rota­ting tools, wheel dia­me­ters bet­ween 700 mm and 1250 mm can be machined.
