Charity soccer tournament »Chemnitzer Firmen-Cup«
Our company team had a particularly challenging time at this year’s charity football tournament »Chemnitzer Firmen-Cup«. Many strong teams were assigned to Group C, including both teams that won first place (SODECIA Powertrain Oelsnitz GmbH) and second place (Aumann Limbach-Oberfrohna GmbH), as well as last year’s tournament winner (HTM Härtetechnik und Metallbearbeitung GmbH).
In the first game our team experienced the highest defeat with 0:5 against Aumann. A second loss was suffered against the later tournament winner SODECIA with 0:2, but no more games were lost in the group phase: 1:1 against Klinikum Chemnitz, 1:0 against RAC Rohrleitungsbau and 0:0 against Sunshine Dienstleistungen.
In the round of sixteen we had to play against last year’s winner HTM, which our footballers unfortunately lost 1:3. However, the team around captain Patrick Freitag motivated itself once again and was able to win the final placement game with a strong performance and a 4–0 final result and thus achieved the highest victory.
At the end the result was: 10th place of 16th. Unfortunately the strong preliminary group avoided a better result.
Of course, we will again have a team next year in order to help the youth and to support people who need help with the donations. This year the total amount of donations is about 10.000€.
