NILES-SIMMONS wins »Best Supplier« Award from BBAC

Bei­jing Benz Auto­mo­tive Corp. Ltd. – Sup­plier Day 2014 „BBAC IS READY“

On Mon­day, July 7, 2014, the Chi­nese joint ven­ture BBAC of DAIMLER AG held its sup­plier day in Bei­jing under the motto »BBAC IS READY«.
»BBAC IS READY« is the core state­ment of BBAC regar­ding its mar­ket pre­sence in China with regard to the pro­duct port­fo­lio, pro­duc­tion and dis­tri­bu­tion of Mer­ce­des Benz automobiles.

This year, the enorm­ous pro­gress in the stra­te­gic posi­tio­ning of the Mer­ce­des Benz brand as a pre­mium manu­fac­tu­rer on the Chi­nese mar­ket and the expan­sion of the plant in Bei­jing were taken as an oppor­tu­nity to pre­sent the deve­lo­p­ment and expan­sion and to award part­ners and sup­pli­ers who have con­tri­bu­ted to this expan­sion as »Out­stan­ding Suppliers«.

A core pro­ject in the expan­sion of the joint ven­ture is the loca­liza­tion of engine pro­duc­tion in the company’s own BBAC engine plant in Beijing.
For this engine plant, various equip­ment packa­ges were allo­ca­ted so cal­led gene­ral con­trac­tors. For the pro­duc­tion of the main com­pon­ents of the engi­nes – block, head and cranks­haft – the Chem­nitz machine tool com­pany NILES-SIMMONS Indus­trie­an­la­gen GmbH was able to imple­ment the order for the turn­key deli­very of the cranks­haft line. On 18 Novem­ber 2013, the engine plant was offi­ci­ally inaugurated.

NILES-SIMMONS was awarded as « Out­stan­ding Sup­plier« as a result of the fast imple­men­ta­tion of this com­plex task and the rapid achie­ve­ment of the full pro­duc­tion capa­city of the cranks­haft plant. This reco­gni­tion is a great honour for the Saxon machine tool manu­fac­tu­rer, in par­ti­cu­lar because only two for­eign com­pa­nies were hono­u­red by the awarded sup­pli­ers, most of whom were Tier one sup­pli­ers for vehicle production.

In the eulogy of Dr. Mar­kus Kei­cher, Gene­ral Mana­ger BBAC Engine Plant, was espe­ci­ally app­re­cia­ted the suc­cessful instal­la­tion and trans­fer of the plant into pro­duc­tion. With this refe­rence, NILES-SIMMONS can fur­ther expand its mar­ket posi­tion as a sup­plier of com­plete pro­duc­tion plants and is recom­men­ded for fur­ther new projects.
