Tales of Transformation – Special Exhibition at the Industrial Museum Chemnitz
The NSH Group supports Chemnitz as the European Capital of Culture as a Gold Sponsor, and the special exhibition “Tales of Transformation” at the Industrial Museum Chemnitz is part of this commitment. The exhibition has been open since April 25, 2025, and can be visited until November 16, 2025.
Experience the city’s dynamic transformation from industrialization to the present day – from the golden age of industrial production in the 19th century, through its role as a center of industrial labor in the GDR era, to the radical upheavals and necessary changes that followed reunification.

Similar transformations have also taken place in the European industrial cities of Gabrovo in Bulgaria, Łódź in Poland, Mulhouse in France, Tampere in Finland, and of course, Manchester in England. The exhibition tells the story of the rise and fall of these cities – but above all, of the people who now live, work, or create in the very places once shaped by the noise of machines and smoking chimneys. Discover stories of individuals breathing new life into 19th-century industrial architecture: foundries becoming universities, spinning mills transforming into luxury lofts, and factory halls evolving into creative studios.
The NSH Group, as the only family-owned industrial company in Chemnitz to have successfully navigated the transformation of the machine tool industry – and still producing at its historic site today – is proud to be part of the “Tales of Transformation” exhibition.

What sets the NSH Group apart is its ability to combine tradition with innovation. The company has modernized its production, integrated new technologies, and continuously adapted to current industrial trends. Throughout this development, the company’s headquarters have remained in Chemnitz – a clear sign of its strong ties to the region. This success story demonstrates how flexibility, innovation, and family ownership are key to thriving in an ever-changing industrial landscape.
